Both Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen airports have international flights, with good road connection on to Inverness. Car hire is available at all these airports as well as Inverness city centre.
The nearest main railway station is Inverness which has frequent connections to Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London and other major cities. There is also the overnight Caledonian Sleeper service from London. Again, car hire is available in Inverness city centre.
By public transport:
There is also a bus service between Lochinver and Ullapool/Inverness but we do recommend that a car is necessary to take full advantage of your holiday. To investigate public transport options Traveline Scotland is a useful website. Caledonian Macbrayne ferries run between Ullapool and Stornoway and day trips are available to the Isle of Lewis at some times of year.
